i dropped it today.  I'm so fucking sick right now I could throw up.  Pulled off onto the side of Hwy 75 near Blountsville with a buddy to check out a trailer.  I put the kickstand down, climbed off, then she fell onto her right side.  There was a drop off on the shoulder to the ground and the frame slider missed it but took it's own damage.  Chipped the fairing near the crankcase, punctured the crankcase cover so that it's leaking oil now, scratched up both right side mirrors, dented the Yoshimura pipe, broke the right side foot peg, scratched the rear cowling next to the seat.  I may cry.   Pictures coming.

Guess that punctured crankcase is ironic, eh, Hammer?  Good thing I have a contact on NESBA that has salvaged parts.  I'm emailing him now.

Sorry to hear that. At least you were standing still when it happened. I let mine fall over on the back porch about 2 weeks ago. No damage...might have knocked some rust off though.

If they balance on two narrow wheels its inevitable that they are going to go down. Laugh it off and chalk it up as a lesson learned. I'm willing to bet that won't happen again. Oh and this thread is useless without damage pics.

Oh and mine has been known to fall over at random times for no apparent reason so I feel for you. Also while we are on the subject...it is cold now but in a few months the heat will weaken thin weak asphalt. Yep that got me too. Now that I think about it instead of a good mechanic my bike probably needs a good psychiatrist or an exorcist.

Damn I hate to hear that. If its any comfort it happened to us all. They only have 2 wheels, sometimes they fall down.

Its sorta like shutting the barn door after the horse leaves but check in to a set of case savers, they can help you from spending the kind of bucks your fixing to spend on replacing another case.

Sorry to here that.

I have a guy just down the road from me that is very good aluminum welder. I have had him fix several car parts that were cracked or had a hole in them. Just might be a cheaper fix and he may be able to fix yours.

Well it looks like only the cover took a puncture.  I've got a guy in Georgia looking for a replacement.  Either that or I'll get some JBWeld and black touch up paint.  I'm ripping into it now.  This will be repaired fucking ASAP, no matter what I have to sacrifice to pay for it (dog not included).

Sorry about that Freq.  I am sure that was a sad end to what would have been a great day of riding.  I guess there is no good way to drop a bike, but at least you weren't on it...you are not hurt....the bike can be repaired....... and you will ride again.

If you've ridden long (or not so long) ... it will happen.  Sad

Glad you were not on it when it went over.

Dang it man...I hate that for ya.

I hate dropping my bike....

and if it makes you feel ANY better, I did the same thing at 29 Dreams WITH an audience....
put the stand down, it leaned to the right for just long enough for me to get off and walk around...then it fell over to the right....

I felt like a freakin moron...

the other drops ... um ... well ... er.... the next worse one was on Peachtree St. in Atlanta....

omg it took every ounce of strength and every fiber of my body to pick it up....

people yelling, pointing, laughing....humiliating.

You got lucky with it just being a cover. Just get a used cover, forget the JB weld. JB is good for an emergency on the side of the road thing. I know some of ya'll will say  other wise but you don't want a big ol'chunk of JB blowing out on ya in the middle of no where. Or worse yet a small piece cracking and falling into your motor, clutch etc....etc..... It don't take much damage to make up the cost of a new/used cover.

Afew years back I had a HD lowrider that I didn't get the kickstand all the way down, fell into the wife's V-Star and damaged them both......I am familar with that sick feeling.

But....

If money can fix it, it really aint a problem.

I'm too OCD to do the JB Weld thing.  I sent off an email to a guy I've dealt with before.  I should hear from him tomorrow.  If he prices it up the same way he did last time, I may get through this, foot peg included for 100 bucks.

I'm only guessing but I don't see a shortage of salvaged sport-bike parts occurring anytime soon.

Ah man that sucks. I thought I saw you out near Hwy 25 today. I'm assuming it wasn't you.

Sorry to hear about the drop. I hope you get it patched up soon.

I can't remember what you ride but I was thinking Yamaha. If you can't find a good used part and have to buy new let me know. Good friend of mine just bought and took over the Yamaha stealorship in Albertville. Don't know if being friends will get me a discount but I can always try!

Sorry to hear about that "gravity" thing happening to you....it happens so often on the ST-owners forum that the mods have put a signature space under the avatar for "number of drops".

some of the guys are racking up the digits.

Thats funny on Venture rider.org you have to donate $5.00 to the site for each drop.
