Alabama motorcyclist killed near Mamou

Posted February 6th, 2010

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon when an elderly Eunice woman turned in front of him on La. 13.
State Police said David Bollinger, 61, of Montgomery, Ala., was north-bound when Genelia Manuel, 74, failed to yield and began to turn left into a driveway from the south-bound lane about 1:30 p.m.
The collision occurred on La. 13 south of La. 374 in Evangeline Parish.
Manuel's car struck the motorcycle in the middle of the north-bound lane.
Bollinger was completely ejected from the bike and died at the scene, police said.
Manuel was taken to Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. A report on her condition was not immediately available.
Investigation into the accident continues.

You hate to see these things. We all know the risks, but we ride on because it's what we do.

"failed to yield and began to turn left" - How many times have we seen this? Ride like you are invisible, because to many, you are.

My thoughts and prayers to the Bollinger family.
