seriously, that button is an invaluable tool for moderation, and it is very UNDER-USED at BamaRides
since folks tend to under-report (or not at all)
offensive, abrasive, and disruptive posts - moderation can sometime take awhile.
During this period of "chaos", some members
respond, rather than
report the offensive post
This behavior has 3 results:
- A volatile, out of control thread, that must be moderated - continues to burn, for hours sometimes
- a few angered members, become involved in a dispute, who DO NOT want their "correct" responses and comments deleted
- a disappointed, quiet, group of
readers that has to endure all the crap the results from a single, insensitive or thoughtless post for a lot longer than is necessary
We can avoid all of this if we can have a handful of folks simply keeping an eye out
One of the most consistent compliments I receive when commenting on this board is:
"It is so pleasant, and peaceful here, not so much bad behavior" (flaming, trolling etc.)
When you help moderate, you take the workload away from the moderators, and it makes us all happier
