 think My engine light came on todaywhile I was riding. The light would come on for a while and then go out for a few then back on. The bike seemed to be operating same as usual, itjust scares me. Can harley scan the code ,like you can a car, to diagnose the problem? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

They should.  If there's no noticeable change in it's behavior then it's probably something simple.

Have you checked all of your fluids today? Great place to start.

yeah. if fluids check out then it's probably an o2 sensor or something else simple.but they should be able to scan it.

This post is assuming you have average mechanical knowledge. If you don't work on your own stuff, please skip this post. If you do your basic stuff, then read at your own risk. Its your bike you decide if you want to follow my advice. 

DISCLAIMER - I'm not a harley tech and only have worked on my Sporty and Classic a couple times.


Now, do you have a FSM - Factory Service Manual? If you own a harley, this should be the first "option" you add. There will be more info than you need but it will save you money the first time you use it. You can get them on eBay for around 50 bucks.
