Posted by Kim Albright July 01, 2009 10:30 PM

HUNTSVILLE, AL. - An Alabama State Trooper remains in Huntsville Hospital after he crashed his motorcycle while pursing another motorcyclist for speeding. Trooper Randall Dubose suffered injuries to his leg and arm when he lost control of his motorcycle on McKee Road in Limestone County just before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

State Troopers say Dubose had turned around to chase a speeding motorcycle but lost control in a curve. he was taken to Huntsville Hospital with what is being called non-life threatening injuries.

I have all the respect for cops (my dad being one for 35 years), and I hate to see anyone get hurt.  Although, I will say, that he's probably hurt from lack of training/preparing for high speed chases.

I blame 1) the motorcyclist breaking the law, then 2) the State of Alabama for not training motorcycle cops to do their job.

Maybe I've lived in a cave (Huntsville), but I don't remember seeing but a very, very few State Trooper motorcycle police in travelling this state over the years. I heard a warning this morning from a local traffic reporter that they (motorcycle cops) will be out in force over the holiday weekend.  dunno

Is this something new? If so, I wonder just how much training these guys have received?  {17}

 I've seen more this year on the road than ever, 4 so far, 1 was a sorta unmarked bike, had the state trooper badge on the side of his tank. When the trooper passed me I looked over and it surprised me, it had the silver n blue paint that HD has been putting on a lot of non-police type bikes with no markings other than what was on the tank or a visible light bar, wasn't sure if it was a OFFICIAL police bike or a cop in uniform riden his own. I didn't see the lights until he lit-up to go after a cage that blew by me then him. It must be apart of the TAKE BACK OUR HIGHWAYS campaign. I gota a question, if we are taken back our hiways, who stole them?

  Probably a sport bike rider I am guessing..  No way that big bagger was going to catch him through the twistys.  Glad he was not hurt to bad.

I talked to a trooper yesterday, he said the state sent 100 officers to Madison Co.(Huntsville) for the month of July. We have to highest death rate for the state of Alabama and they are trying to slow us speeders down.

Just north of Huntsville yesterday morning, there were 6 troopers on bikes and 4 in cars working a construction zone. Needless to say, they were very busy.

A friend of mine works for the State Troopers as an equipment installer- there are Harley's, Chargers, Tahoes,Crown Vics, of all colors, not just the standard silver. All they are required to have is a decal on the passenger side-- he wouldn't let me have one of the magnetic ones in the back of his truck Sad

Most motor patrol officers go through rigorous training and can do stuff on a patrol bike that would make most of us cringe. That said they like us are subject to not making sound decisions and based on how the incident occured ........in a curve sounds like he did not set it up right or just went in too hot and lost it.

  yeah.. Hard to do when your chasing somebody.     I would be pretty nervous if I was the guy he was chasing..  He must have got some kind of description..
