I think I will go check this out sometime next week.
see the area between shades crest/co.rd.97 and ross bridge pkwy?
If you ride up shades crest you can see a birds eye view of these powerline trails.

I rode about a third of that trail last year- it's fun. I entered just north of what you pictured- where it runs into shannon oxmoor rd.  I think there's a gate up there now, but I'm not sure.  Anyway, the "greener trail" to the right on the map is a gas line, and there is a good creek crossing early on that trail.  The power line trail has a small creek crossing (maybe large after all this **** rain we've had) and some good hill climbs.  I rode only a third because after I got to the top of the first hill the south side looked a little too steep for me. You should be able to handle it without any trouble happy.

Hey Donovongravlee,
If you come in to the powerlines from the Shannon side, they do have a gate up. All you have to do is ride up to the train tracks then ride down the left side of the tracks on the gravel  for a little ways and you will see where you can turn in.I watched a guy do this trick prolly 10 years ago one day while riding home from work . In areas like this you might do well to have a Co-rider .

thanks for the tip !
you are right. its ALWAYS better to have a co-rider. problem is that its hard to find one sometimes.
looks like this one is going to have to wait a few more days.

Your tag for what?   What did you do?    Is the FZ1 gone? Sad

HEY DREDMAN THE BIG PILE OF ROCKS YOU CAN SEE ON THE BESSEMER SIDE OF LAKESHORE IS THE TAILINGS PILE FOR SLOSS NUMBER 2, GO AROUND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PILE OVER RED MTN AS YOU ARE GOING DOWN YOU WILL SE SOME OLD STRUCTURES  AND A TURN OFF TO THE LEFT. IT USED TO BE A LITTLE FLAT AREA/CLEARINING/MEADOW WITH THE ARCHED ENTRANCE TO SLOSS NUMBER 2. REALLY COOL PLACE. THE FIRST TIME I FOUND IT ,IT WAS HOT HUMID SUMMER TIME AND A COOL FOG WAS COMING OUTTA THE MINE ENTRANCE(VERY SHERLOCK HOLMES-VINCENT PRICE LIKE) AND THE AIR NEAR THE MINE ENTRANCE WAS COOL. I CHILLED THERE FOR A WHILE AND WENT ON EXPLORING IT CAN BE  DANGEROUS OVER ON THAT SIDE OF THE WORLD. ONE TIME I TOOK A BUDDY WHO WAS UP FROM NEW ORLEANS DURING KATRINA TO THE TOP OF THE TAILINGS PILE IN MY BRONCO BOY HE WAS LEANED BACK IN THE SEAT AND HOLDING ON TIGHT. I ASKED WHY, AND HE PROCLAIMED THAT IT WAS MUCH FLATTER BACK HOME.

COOL PLACE TO RIDE!

That is a very cool place.

Be careful, The Red Mtn Park project does not like people on the property. Just sayin.

They are very active in the restoration of all mining ruins.

They will prosecute trespassers.  Just be careful.  Cool
