I am interested as long as I get a new tire by then. This would be my first Moto-camp so any suggestions on what gear I should pack if I join yall?

I'm not sure of dredman's rules for the challenge.  think

He may not let us take anything.

I have talked with several others who are interested in the ride part, but not the camping part......

I say anyone who wants to ride can join us, and split whenever you get tired.*

I dont see how you can wrong?  dunno

Oh, I can.
There's lots of ways to go wrong.... as but a single example, one could lie on the couch all day Saturday watching the week's Oprah shows on Tivo while eating a couple tubs of cottage cheese with jalapenos and peanut butter.
Like I said, that's but a single example.

Strippers at midnight?

OH OKAY...you convinced me... the 29 degree weather will most certainly be worth it to me now.   nutz

DeBandi,

Do you have a route planned for this ride?

If anyone has the GPS coordinates for the campsite please post them.

A couple of us have GPS units on our bikes.
I was thinking that we could set up camp early then free-ride until its time to head back to the base camp.

With the camp site coordinates we could find our way back.
This way, if we need to split up into 2 ride-groups we can.

Not really.

I was just thinking about starting down in Waldo and taking the skway towards camp.

I like your idea.

My tenative plans are to meet u all at the camp site on that saturday afternoon.  I wont be able to ride with u all from waldo.

county rd 500 aka  (skyway mtway)  , is it suitable for bikes like the Vstrom of Versys?  anyone know? I was looking at it on a map.  I was considering taking it from hwy 78 in Heflin, all the way north near Piedmont where it becomes Dugger mtn rd.

that way i could stop off at the camp site and setup.  then continue my ride up to Dugger mtn rd. and then back to camp that evening.

any info about cr 500 between Piedmont and Heflin would be greatly appreciated.

The stars are alining. I had a scout ask about going on the camping trip last night. Only thing was it is a reservation only trip. So I backed out to let him go. I have a Church thing friday night into sat morning so I will not get there till a little later in the day.

Matt, I'm interested in tagging along with you. Btw, get with me about the equipment we talked about its just sitting around at my house. You might as well use it.
