Motorcyle junk yards?
« on: October 15, 2007, 09:41:04 PM »
Since there are more than a few of us who believe you can't buy cool, you have to build it yourself  where are the good motorcycle junk yards?

I'm in Bibb county so I'm well versed in the Adams location. 20+ years ago I went to one on the other side of Birmingham. I wonder if its still open.

There's one just a few miles East of me in Camp Hill called Willies Cycle Salvage. A huge place that use to be just off of Hwy. 280. It's still in the same location, it's just that 280 has been moved and 4-laned now. I've been there and bought some stuff a few times. Here's the websites URL.

Universal Cycle's number is 205-674-0325

There's Midway Cycle, between Huntsville and Athens.  They have a web-site, but it took about 2 weeks for me to get a reply through the web-site.  Best bet is to call them. 256-233-3821

So far only junk yards in Alabama have been mentioned. Might as well mention yards in the surrounding states as well  if you know about them. On second thought......why not mention any yards that you have had a good experience with. Most will ship the parts so it would be good to get up a list of all favorable yards, no matter where they are located.

I've been to Motorcycle Sports and Salvage in Munford.  They are not your traditional salvage yard.  They have all their bikes in a building, stacked and inventoried.  They also sell bikes, and rebuildables.  Pretty good people to deal with.  They just started selling Polaris ATV's and I think they are about to start carrying Victories.

I've also done business with Adam from Kentucky Cycle Salvage.  Good prices, he ships fast and he's fair.
