They announced earlier this month they would be going offline today. From what I gathered it was due to lack of interest and participation from members, declining membership and other factors. There was some mention about a period of hurt feelings, possibly similar to what we have experienced recently, and maybe that had something to do with the changes in activity. I have been a member since shortly after discovering their existence (pretty sure they started around the same time we did in '07). Even went on a few rides with them. Seemed like a pretty tight group that even had a good amount of activity in other parts of the state.
Mostly a younger group, I am sure that life-changes altered membership as much as anything else. As many of you folks have experienced, most likely at some point in your life motorcycles have taken a back seat to career, family, etc. Those things tend to happen more when you are younger, as this crowd was most certainly a younger crowd. I am curious about the effects the hurt feelings had on the group, and where they came from, and what could have been done to avoid them. I know I have made plenty of mistakes since our beginning, and will make plenty more, but I would certainly like to avoid the major pitfalls if they are identifiable.
I did log in a few days back to offer a new home, and a place to communicate, as we do have a mostly un-used sport-bike board that might work really well for what remains of the community. There was talk of an existing Facebook page, and even an offer to extend/archive the community from another member. But I think it is dead.
That make me sad.
Sad that folks will lose something important in their lives, and sad they could not fix what was broken. I hope a few more find their way here, at least they can find each other HERE if they are semi-active at all.
