Help me Help NATRA
« on: May 04, 2016, 09:59:33 AM »
I need to borrow a flatbed trailer longer than 12' towable with a standard hitch on my Nissan Frontier.

I am trying to bring some timbers up to NATRA for bridge building.

I have a 10' trailer you can use...I've hauled a load of 12' 2x6's with no problems. Takes a 2" ball, or I have a drawbar with ball if you don't have one.

The timbers are 16' to 18' so that may be pushing it. Is it a flatbed or does it have a gate on the back?

The timbers weigh in at over 1000lbs each. What is the capacity of the trailer?

I definitely dont want to be pushing the limit for 2 hours all the way to Westpoint.

I have a 16ft tandem axle trailer with removable ramps. Probably a 5000#GVWR. I haul my tractor and small cars on it. It has a rail around the bed.

The trailer brakes don't work. Don't know how many timbers you will be hauling, but you may have a problem with the Nissian stopping the loaded trailer.

You can use it if you need to. I'm in N. Ala.

I might be able to put one or two on it.

Is it a standard hitch?

What size ball?

Any chance you would be able to meet somewhere this evening?

No big deal. Thanks for the offer. Looks like I can rent a tandem axle trailer for $55 for the weekend if I really need it.

Removable gate, single 3500lb axle. Probably want something heavier duty.
