WANTED: Sheet of Tyvek
« on: December 17, 2015, 08:37:24 AM »
I need a small sheet of Tyvek to make a tent footprint. At least 85"x100". Does anyone have any leftover from a project? We can do a cash deal or if you have enough I can make you one, too!

Let me check when I get home. You are talking about the Tyvek house wrap, right?

I have a roll of house wrap, not sure if it's Tyvek. I'll look this weekend.

The Lowes brand house wrap I have is made of woven strips and not suitable for your needs. I have researched this in the past and believe it needs to be actual Tyvek brand.

Good luck!

Try eBay.

Yeah, it looks like several folks are doing that very cheaply on eBay.  Might save you some time.  They are adding the grommets for ground stakes also.

Yes. I have checked Amazon and eBay. Just hoping to up cycle someone else's junk before I buy from  a seller. I'm a hippie like that.

I did find a seller on eBay with un-printed Tyvek. I will order extra to use as a rain tarp to string up over camp. And as a floor mat for the vestibule would work, too. Very light weight, folds small and tear resistant. Plus I can cut it to match my exact footprint at a much lower cost than the tent brand.

What size you need? I have a little Titanium Roof underlay left over. Saw the measures in the first post I will check the size.
Sorry half that wide. You need a long skinny tent.

UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone who offered advice and what you had on hand. Call me crazy. My garage flooded this week with all the rain. It's an absolute mess in there. So, I've been cleaning...guess what I found 8)

Yep. A roll of Tyvek. Exact width I was looking for. My landlord is a contractor and he left so much stuff I haven't even seen all of it. I'll post a how to when I actually get to the project.
